Just bought a house at the beach. What a thrill.

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.

On May 30th and again on the 31st I didn’t feel well so I took myself to the ER there in Shoreline. I’d been completely healthy until then.  After a CT scan the Dr said my colon was completely filled with tumors. He’d Called the surgeon and she operated that night.

June 1st I awoke without the majority of my upper colon, and an ileostomy. I have stage 4 colon cancer. It has entered my lymph system and there are tiny cells in my lungs.
I’m aligned with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and going through their chemotherapy protocol. That amounts to infusion every other Tuesday followed by a pump of chems for another 46 hrs. Ive completed 3 rounds to date (Aug 3).
Other than the side effects of chemo I feel good and am healthy.

All this happened in the middle of a big transition. I was prepping my house in Shoreline to sell, having found a house in Port Angeles right on the water. I closed on the new house June 12th and the picture above  was taken in my front “yard!”  Behind me is the Strait of Juan de Fuca. I am hoping to list my Shoreline in a couple weeks.

The new house in PA needs some upgrades too so there’s no better time to do that than before moving in. Happily, there is also a studio apartment adjacent to the house, so that’s where I am now.

My sister Diana has been here through most of this journey and is returning here next week.  Jaxon & Emily live just 14 minutes away and they are fully involved in both remodels.  Wendy is working as a prosecutor and judge part-time, as well as tending her growing brood.  Her 4 were all here today for the first time together and we had a great visit.  There’s much to do.

I welcome visitors yet ask that you connect with me first. I certainly want to be here to greet you!!

I cannot fully express my gratitude for all the kind notes, texts, emails and calls. I am rich with precious friends and feel blessed by God. Truly.
