As many of you may already know, 13 years ago, Karen Davis was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). Up until recently, she has been doing well and her medication was keeping the GIST at bay. However, doctors at OHSU have found a large tumor that has formed in her sternum. Because this tumor is growing in the bone, doctors are unable to remove it. She will start a series of radiation to decrease her pain level and hopefully decrease the size of the tumor. This treatment will last 10 days, 5 days a week for 2 weeks. She will have a follow-up appointment with her oncologist September 14th, and we will hopefully know more information moving forward. We're so grateful and appreciate all the love and support everyone has shown Karen and our family during this time. This is a very difficult time for her as well as her family, and this has been overwhelming for everyone. At this time we ask that you check this website for updates and information in regards to Karen's treatment. We promise to update the site as much a possible as soon as we know more information.
