On August 10, I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. It is a rare, but very aggressive and fast growing form of breast cancer...but one that is also very receptive to a particular chemo drug. It is stage 3, but that is where this type starts (remember I said fast growing and aggressive) so that is actually good news. I have a long road ahead treatment wise...a lot of chemo, surgery and radiation, but the prognosis is good and I am ready to fight! I had my first chemo treatment today and so far so good. I am going to the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center in Cedar Rapids and everyone there (including my oncologist, Dr. Wilbur) is AMAZING! These past couple weeks have been a whirlwind with all of this and starting school (only one day with my kiddos) and I can't thank all of my friends and family that have helped me through whether it was helping me get my room ready, helping at home, listening to me vent, or just saying a prayer. With all that support I can't help but kick Cancer's butt! ;)
