Welcome to Justin's CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep our friends, family and loved ones updated on Justin's progress.

On Thursday, July 7, 2016, Justin was visiting the Outer Banks with his family, Mark, Vanessa, Connor and Colton Jones.  Late in the afternoon, Justin, Connor and Colton went down to the beach, and as they dove into the water, Justin's head hit a sandbar and he laid face down in the water, not moving.  Connor ran for help and called 911 as Colton and another gentleman helped pull Justin to shore. Justin was transported via Medevac to Norfolk General Hospital.

Justin fractured his C6 and C5 vertebrae and had bone fragments from C4.  He underwent two surgeries to repair the fractures (steel plate and steel rods were placed from C7 to C4), remove bone fragments and repair two tears to the membrane surrounding his spinal cord; it was a blessing that his spinal cord was only badly bruised and compressed and not severed.  We were told this was one of the worst injuries the doctors had ever seen.

Justin has feeling from his mid-chest up and through his shoulders down to his elbows; his feeling is intermittent from his elbows to his fingertips and he does not have feeling from the waist down.

Colton has started a GoFundMe account (https://www.gofundme.com/2dpkuro) to support and defray costs associated with Justin's out of pocket medical expenses, rehabilitation costs and any potential future home modifications.

We so appreciate your love, support, thoughts, prayers  and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most; this is Justin's best medicine.  Please feel free to sign Justin's Guestbook, leave a note, comment, or just a few words . . . whatever you'd like . . . We love hearing from you all.

“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. (Matthew 18:19)

. . . “I tell you the truth, if you ha[ve] faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. would be impossible.(”Matthew 17:20)
