I have Bipolar I Disorder (a.k.a Manic Depression) PTSD and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Yes I am Mentally Ill. I have endured 5 Manic Episodes with hallucinations with a total break from reality. It is very dangerous. I got diagnosed 21 years ago back in 2000 at the age of 35, which is a VERY late diagnosis.
I also suffer from Depression at times, which comes with Manic Depression. I have been held in Psychiatric Hospitals 5 times. I have endured solitary confident, been handcuffed and shackled and confined to a straight jacket. It has been scary and demeaning at times.
I was put on Lithium back in 2000 for Mood. I took Klonopin for Anxiety and a newer drug in 2012 called Latuda for Bipolar / Psychotic. This combo seemed to be working for the past 9 years. I have been on IBM’s Disability plan for the last 19 years.
I was in therapy for YEARS to get over the loss of my job and not having children. Dorie Cerruti was Bipolar and she was such a great friend to me and we suffered together.
