Tom's story about bladder cancer started in 2014, when he was first diagnosed with bladder cancer. No one ever wants to hear the word "cancer" from their doctor, but Tom discovered that, as cancers go, bladder cancer wasn't that terrible. He had treatments and, after that, he got checked every few months. Some of those "tune ups" were more difficult and complicated than others, but overall, everything was going pretty well until January, 2019. In January, Tom's urologist said that the cancer was getting more serious. The doctor said Tom should go to MD Anderson. He did. The decision was made to remove Tom's bladder and that was scheduled for May 22, 2019. That's where this chapter of Tom's Story starts.
