Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

John was admitted to Holland Hospital on Saturday, March 26, 2016. After he had much difficulty breathing the ambulance was called. At Holland Hospital they could not stabilize him without intubating.

It was decided there with their critical care team to transfer him to Spectrum Butterworth Meijer Heart Center. They called in the ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) [for more info on the ecmo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extracorporeal_membrane_oxygenation] team to make the decision to put John on that machine. Basically, it’s a lung bypass.  His lung x-ray was described by one tech as ‘significant’.

We are here at Meijer Heart Center and they consider John to be in ‘critically stable condition.’ They consider the machine to be a 'heroic life saving measure', and there is a long road ahead of us. We all know that John is a fighter, so please continue to pray for his healing and for the rest of the family as well.
We will continue to post updates as they come up. Thank you all so much for your love and support.

At this time, visitation is very limited to see John. Contact Carol or Shanna to set up a visit. As we said... prayers are greatly appreciated. We are thankful for the amazing care that John is receiving at Spectrum.
