Welcome to Johnny’s CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Monday, April 15th started out as any other Monday morning for Johnny. He woke up went to work and started his work week with his brother-in-law Greg at Morcon Construction.

As the morning progressed, Johnny started to feel ill and light headed on and off. Johnny and Greg ended up going to the emergency room at Park Nicolett Methodist Hospital.

Johnny’s blood pressure was higher then usual and after some blood tests, he had elevated levels of troponin which is a protein enzyme that is released into the bloodstream when there is an “event” that happens with the heart. A series of tests were started and Johnny was admitted overnight to the hospital in the cardiac unit. At this point, the cardiologist had not been in and Johnny was told that he was being admitted for observation with a possibility of an angiogram in the morning.

Tuesday morning came and the cardiologist came to talk with Johnny and Carrie. Dr. Hoffman recommended doing an angiogram because of the troponin levels but suspected that he had fluid around his heart due to a virus or cold. He recommended the angiogram to rule out any blockages and to confirm if he had any fluid around his heart. Dr. Hoffman put his odds that he will have the angiogram and be home in 4 hours. Great news! Johnny was ready to go home.

Unfortunately, the angiogram did not show fluid around his heart but rather 3 blockages in 3 of his vessels off his main arterial artery. We were informed that he would need a triple bypass as the blockages were over 80% and he is being kept in the hospital until the bypass surgery as his blood pressure is very high. They want to keep him to ensure his heart is rested. Let’s be honest, if Johnny was able to leave he may not come back!

Open Heart Triple Bypass Surgery has been scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, April 19th in the afternoon, around 2pm.

Please posts messages for Johnny and his family: Carrie, Nick, Bailey, Cole and Gabe.

Please continue to keep Johnny and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
