John Landis John's Myeloma Journey

In October of 2016, my dad started feeling very weak, losing weight, and just wasn't his normal self. He sought care from a primary care practice. The blood work taken there showed us very high white blood cell counts, very high calcium levels, and almost complete kidney failure. A couple days later, his doctor called us with the news no one ever wants to hear. He told us my dad needed to be checked into the hospital immediately because they feared he was facing some kind of cancer. After more tests during his hospitalization, we got the official diagnoses. My dad had an advanced stage of multiple myeloma, or in other words, a cancer of the plasma cells that destroys the bones. It has been a long journey from here with endless doctors appointments and chemotherapy. Now we are on the last leg of treatment, and he will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant in late March. I created this page to update his progress through the transplant, so everyone is well informed and is fighting alongside us, if they so desire. Thank you for your care and support! Our GoFundMe page to help support us during the long travel period for gas and hotel stays during the transplant is https://www.gofundme.com/johns-multiple-myeloma-fight?lang=en-US
