Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated regarding John's health challenges. We appreciate your support and words of encouragement. Thank you for visiting. John has recently been diagnosed with FTD/ALS. This week we started Hospice services at our home to help John with comfort and dignity as he continues to decline. During the past 10 years, John has had numerous health challenges; however, 2017 turned out to be the most challenging of all. In August we got our first diagnosis - Frontal Temporal Dementia (FTD). The symptoms made sense to me. As John continued to struggle with breathing and complained of a lump in his throat, coupled with several other clinical symptoms, I began to think he had FTD/MND, or a form of FTD with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Recently John was officially diagnosed with FTD/ALS. I decided that this site would be the best way to communicate health updates with the many people who know and love John. The FTD has left him with little executive function, meaning he's not really able to engage and is not really interested in doing anything. He's content watching TV. John's deep love for all of his family and friends has been such a blessing in these past few months, and I know he'd want each of you to know how much he loves you! Thanks again for visiting and for the great love and support many of you, who have already known of John's challenges, have provided to John and our family during this journey thus far.
