Family & Friends thank you for visiting Joan Peterman's caringbridge site. On July 19 , 2016 mom had a full right knee replacement. Following her surgery she went to Oaklawn Rehabiliation Center for physical therapy. Things changed on July 28 when a xray done during her post op doctor visit revealed that Mom's patella tendon had ruptured sometime following surgery. We were thrown into a whole new set of decisions. She went to Rochester for a consultation with an orthopedic doctor who specializes in this type of complication which is an uncommon knee replacement surgery. Choices were to have a reconstruction of the tendon with a Marley mesh or live with a brace on that leg the rest of her life. Much research & many questions to doctors & others were done before a final decision to have the surgery was reached. Mom has a couple of appointment in Rochester before surgery. Hopefully with a green light to do surgery as planned.. The date was put out for surgery as they wanted her to heal from the knee surgery. So September 6th is set for surgery at Methodist in Rochester. Please continue to pray for the doctors & nurses to use their skills to get Mom back on her feet and HOME & driving her car(her goal from the orginal surgery).
