Jennifer was recently diagnosed with heart failure as a result of her diabetes. Jenn and her husband, James, live in Roseville, Michigan with their boys Nick (9) and Nate (4). Jenn’s son, Tony, lives in Texas and works in the insurance industry.
James has been by her side at the hospital since she was admitted. Family members have been caring for their young boys.
Jenn presented with shortness of breath and chest pressure which led to slew of tests. She was admitted to Crittenton. hospital. Within a few hours a cardiologist came and told her she was in heart failure with her heart only working between 20% - 25% and lungs at 30% capacity. This was Thursday 3/22.
For the next week she endured many tests leading up to the decision to transfer her another hospital. She was transported by ambulance to St. John’s Providence in east Detroit.
Today, 3/29, as this story is written, we await the Chief Cardiac surgeon, Dr. Sanjay Batra. The reason for such a long delay is that her left ventricle is not working properly. This significantly increases the level of difficulty of the surgery. If the ventricle can’t be repaired she will need an LVAD (Left Ventricle Assistance Device). In Michigan only three hospitals have this machine. If she survives the surgery, there will be tremendous medical bills for this family.
So here we are waiting for the doctor.
