Welcome to Jena's CaringBridge site. In August of 2011, our life changed significantly when doctors discovered Jena had a brain tumor. Mercifully, it proved to be of the slow growing and treatable variety, and in January of 2014 she had brain surgery to remove most of the mass. Monitoring since with MRIs, we know that now is the time to move forward with further treatment. In mid-April, she begins a 6 week schedule of daily radiation and chemo. While those are intense treatments, it's important to be clear that this tumor isn't something expected to be fatal to Jena. It's treatable, just annoying and disruptive to our lives.
Throughout this adventure, many of you have donated directly to help us with medical costs and missed income due to Jena's condition. It's hard to express our gratitude in the face of your generosity. In a word, it's humbling. This time around, Jena has far better insurance (thank you Unions!) and will have short term disability during the 10 weeks she's out of work for radiation, but that only covers about 50% of her normal salary. Some of you expressed a desire to help in this area, and again our gratitude runs deep. Please use this youcaring.com site if you wish to help. http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/jena-s-brain-surgery-bill/106611#.VT5qr6lwUaI.mailto
Your words, love, vibes, prayers, sighs, hands, grace, and loving faces are the greatest encouragement available to Jena, Kloe, and myself. Thank you for pouring them out on us time and again. You have offered hope time and again, and we live at the mercy of our friends.
