Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

I am starting this journal to keep family and friends updated on my Mother, Geraldine "Jeanie" Aucoin's progress.  Repeating information many times throughout the day can be mentally exhausting, so we felt this would be a good, but private manner to keep all of you informed.  First, we want to thank you all for your love, support, and many prayers you have all offered.  We appreciate them all and welcome the prayers you wish to share.  Mom was diagnosed with Urothelial cancer (Bladder Cancer) on August 20th after suffering with many bladder issues since the end of October of 2019.   She saw multiple doctors during this time and had many tests done throughout the months, but unfortunately Covid delayed her progression of care and now we find ourselves here, preparing for a fight against cancer.  With that said, we quickly hit the ground running to line up doctors appointments and get multiple scans done.   After much research and great positive feedback from others, we decided to choose Dr. Delacroix at East Jefferson as her surgeon/oncologist and Dr. Scott Hebert, oncologist, at Thibodaux Regional Cancer Center to be on our team.  These docs collaborated and decided on the best plan of care for Mom.  First, she will receive chemotherapy for 4-6 cycles (14 days per cycle) and then she will have surgery.  Her surgery date is tentatively scheduled for December 11th. She had her port placed this Tuesday, received her first Chemo treatment on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.  She tolerated the treatment very well and is doing a great job at being strong and positive!  She has a strong support system behind her and she has many prayer warriors in this fight with her!! Her immune system is now compromised since receiving chemo, so we are forced to limit visits.  We do not want to put her in danger of contracting Covid or any other illness that may compromise her health and treatment plan.  We welcome brief phone calls and face time sessions with positive inspiration and support from family and friends!  Again, we want to thank you all for the prayers, support, and concerns you have shared.  She can feel your prayers and we know God is walking on this journey with us!
