On August 20, 2016 Jody suffered a catastrophic brain "malfunction" (vein burst in her brain stem) which resulted in a stroke.  She was rushed to Methodist Hospital CCU and the prognosis was dire.  She wasn't expected to survive, let alone wake up or be able to move.  But after just 3 days, she began to wake up and started answering questions with head nods and fingers.  Over the next 7 days, she continued to demonstrate movement on both her left side (hands and feet) and right, although more limited on the right.  On day 6, the doctors changed her breathing from a mouth vent to a tracheotomy tube ("trach"), and by day 10, she was stable enough to be moved to rehabilitation.

On  Tuesday August 30, Jody was admitted to The Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE.  (see Madonna.org).  While her rehabilitation will be quite an arduous journey, her strength and determination, along with the prayers and support of family and all her friends, will carry her through recovery.
