Jane Henry JaneEHenry

On Wednesday afternoon (July 26, 2017), Jane’s life was forever altered when she was hit by a car while crossing the street just outside our O bag store in Chicago.  She is being treated at Illinois Masonic Hospital.   At the time, Jane remains determined on an unimaginable journey, making progress today that was unfathomable just seven days ago. Currently, we have some positive news to share regarding her status up until now she has been described as critical but Jane is stable.  Additional details surrounding her condition are outlined in the paragraphs below.

We welcome you all to Jane E. Henry’s CaringBridge site.   Jane's five siblings (Beth, Amy, Stephen, Paul, and John) created this site to keep friends and family updated during these difficult times. We appreciate your support, your prayers, your time, and your continued hope and encouragement.

Thank you for visiting, and please know we, as a family, will never be able to adequately express how much each act and thought has meant and will continue to mean to us, but we will honor you all in our collective fight for all that is best for Jane!

We are grateful that Jane is alive.  As you may know, Jane suffered injuries to the left side of her head which caused internal bleeding and swelling to her brain, a broken pelvis, broken left arm plus several other injuries.  After several days of monitoring her, the swelling on her brain plus the mass internal bleed has not gone down yet but she is able to communicate with her family.  So far, the Dr.s  told us that surgeries are believed not to be necessary at this time.

On a positive note, yesterday Jane moved out of ICU to begin speech/physical rehabilitation. This process may take 12-18 months, but knowing Jane and her determination it could be much sooner. She is not one to wait for results, she wants to get going now.

The outpouring of support is incredible right now and our family is extremely appreciative.  Please keep our sister Jane in your prayers.  We know she WILL get through this, but we need a ton of prayers in the meantime.  All we can do now is wait and pray, and then pray some more.

We will update this website as we obtain additional information. What Jane will needs:

Left shoulder and pelvis rehabilitation

Continued brain scans

Neurological rehabilitation

Language and memory rehabilitation

Physical rehabilitations

Continued counseling for PTSD

Many have asked how you can help with mounting medical expenses.  There are two ways to help:

A fund has also been established at GoFundMe.com.  To support Jane’s medical bills, her ongoing treatment and expenses while she is unable to work to support herself over the next several  months, 100% of the funds collected will be directed to Jane. Visit gofundme.com and search for Jane E Henry.
