Jacqui's Story:  Last summer, Jacqui started experiencing some discomfort around right upper abdomen.  This discomfort would come and go and Jacqui didn't worry about.  By October, the pain had gotten more frequent and started waking her up at night.  It seemed to get worse during the night and in the early morning hours.  Around Thanksgiving, the pain started showing itself throughout the day.  Jacqui went back to the Doctor and asked for a scan.  They performed an ultrasound on the Monday of Christmas week.  The doctor called back and asked her to do a CT scan on the day after Christmas.  That evening, the doctor asked her to come back the next day for a meeting.  The appointment did not go well and we learned that they could see 2 masses.  One near her right ovary and the second behind her stomach.  Worse, the mass behind her stomach was putting significant pressure on her right kidney.  Her primary care doctor immediately scheduled appointments with Oncologists.  Jacqui spent the next two weeks meeting with Oncologists in Greenville before deciding to seek a second and third opinion at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix and MD Anderson in Houston.  After preliminary appointments at both locations, Jacqui decided to seek treatment with the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix.
