Irene has been diagnosed with Mulitple Myeloma (cancer in her bone marrow). Her bone marrow cells are 85% infected, but from what we can gather, that number does not change the course of treatment. The stage of the cancer, which we will find out tomorrow, also does not affect the treatment like it does other types of cancer. She will start with an IV of steroids. Then she will recieve rotating doses of IV and pill medications as outpatient procedures for the next few months. The doctor says he has a 90% success rate of minimizing the myeloma with these treatments, but that if they don't work, there are more options. She will have to recieve an auto-transfusion at some point in order to beat the cancer or go into remision. We know it is in God's hands and that is where we place our faith and find our comfort. She has said multiple times that she is not worried about herself. She knows that God is in control, and that if He is calling her home, than she will gladly follow.
