After several weeks of extreme tiredness, nausea, and finally blindingly painful headaches, Michelle insisted that I go to the urgent care this past Sunday afternoon, Oct. 16th. There I saw a doctor who, upon hearing my symptoms and performing a quick visual assessment, immediately sent us to the ER for a CT Scan. I tried to explain that a simple blood test was all that was needed; after all, as a medical healthcare insurance professional, I was fairly confident that I already knew the diagnosis - mono. Michelle listened to the doctor instead of me and immediately took me to the ER. Imagine my shock when the scan showed a tumor on the right side of my brain! The CT scan was followed by an MRI and several other tests. Good news - the full body scans showed the rest of my body to be free of any tumors. A good sign!
My next step is another MRI on Wednesday, Oct 26th and then surgery to remove the tumor on Thursday, Oct 27th. We will know a pathology report some time after that.
We have received so many calls, texts, and email from so many people! We are so grateful for your thoughts, words, and prayers We are truly blessed!
