A few weeks ago, Gordon's heart, which has always been problematic, gave him so much trouble that he ended up in the hospital. The good news is that he's at Westchester Medical Center, where the same doctors have been taking care of him for many years. This crack team did a ton of tests and came to the conclusion that the only viable solution to Gordon's issues is a heart transplant. 


He will be there on the cardiac ward until a heart becomes available, which might take two or three months. He's taken a medical leave from graduate school while all of this goes down.


He's in very good hands there, but of course he can use all of our support. COVID rules mean only two people--in this case, myself (gretchen) and his friend Jillian--can be on the visiting list for the duration of his stay. But he welcomes texts, emails, IMs, phone calls, video calls, Facebook messages, and physical mail/packages (see journal entry for mailing address). And, of course, there's the well-wishes button above!
