First of all, let us let you know that Gino is okay and recovering. On Saturday March 19, 2016 Gino and his recruit class were participating in the “Climb For Air” charity event; as he had in the past year. After Gino finished the climb his heart stopped and he stopped breathing. It is a miracle and a blessing that he was surrounded by his fellow police officers and firefighters. They immediately started CPR and utilized the AED lifesaving device. After being rushed to the hospital, it was determined that he had a 100% blockage in an artery. The artery is known as “The Widow Maker.” On Monday March 21, he underwent successful open heart single vessel bypass surgery. He is now at home starting his long recovery process.
