Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  Jerry was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on Fri Sept 15 2017.  One tumor was found in his esophagus during an endoscopy, and CT scans show that nothing has spread to his organs.  We met with an oncologist from Mayo Clinic today, and he has some enlarged lymph nodes.  He is having a PET scan next Monday Oct 2 to find out if those lymph nodes have cancer cells in them.  If not, he should be clear for surgery to do an  esophagectomy.   It is major chest surgery, and he could be in the hospital for 10-12 days. If they find out there is cancer cells in the lymph nodes, he will have to undergo 6 weeks of mild chemo and 6 weeks of radiation before they will do surgery. We will know more next Thurs, Oct 5th when we meet with his oncologist to go over his PET scan results.  I'll keep you posted with journal updates when we know more. Thank you for your prayers and support.
