Twenty years ago I was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Carcinoid Cancer, which is a slow growing cancerous tumor that can grow in several places throughout the body. For me it has reared its ugly head in a few different locations. My day to day battle involves frequent bathroom visits needing antidiarrheal medication and my month to month treatment involves an injectable suspension that blocks the cancer cells from secreting hormones to minimize the carcinoid syndrome. Every so often, to make things exciting, I throw in a surgery: removal of appendix, gallbladder and portion of intestines/colon, transarterial embolization and now the replacement of two heart valves and a PFO repair, so I am able to with stand a new treatment.
My family and I pray for wisdom and guidance for the medial team with an out come of a successful surgery by skilled hands!
