On August 29th Gavyn was in vehicle accident with his friend, as well as his friend's mom and sister. They went into a ditch and hit a driveway approach. They flipped the car into the air. His friend and his family were airlifted from the scene, Gavyn was brought by ambulance to the Park Rapids medical facility where after ct scans and tests determined he was trauma 2 and needed a pediatrics facility. Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND was the closest facility. He was then airlifted from the Park Rapids facility to here. Gavyn arrived around 2:20 and was in emergency surgery shortly after. About an hour after mom arrived the surgeon came out and explained that Gavyn's spleen had basically been split in half, they were able to save half of it and his duodenum blew out. They were able to repair the duodenum. He will be on a feeding tube until this part is healed, so about 4 weeks or more. Mom will be staying with him his entire hospital stay which at this point they are saying will be about 2 weeks .
