After Thanksgiving 2016, Gale developed symptoms like acid reflex. She saw her doctor on Dec 10, 2016 and her doctor confirmed it was acid reflex and prescribed medication. It didn’t get better, so fortunately Gale continued to pursue it. On Dec 22, 2016 she had a CT scan that revealed a 3 cm mass in the middle of her pancreas. The medical people quickly concluded it was ductal pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The next day she had an endoscopic examination through her throat with biopsy of the pancreatic tumor. It confirmed the pancreatic tumor was cancer. Exploratory surgery on December 27, 2016 found cancer cells in two spots in the liver. Metastasis outside the pancreas meant that it was stage 4 metastatic adenocarinoma.
Gale was the epitome of health, in shape, physically active, and devoted to healthy eating, how could this happen !!?? This is super tough, shocking, and sad, but it is also “war” against these invading cells !!!!!!
