On July 10th, 2020 after an annual mammogram, Gail was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in her right breast.  Further testing helped her discover it was Stage 1A- thank goodness it was found early! Her doctor told her “you have the most perfect breast cancer,” (if there is such a thing?!) and that it is very treatable. The MRI indicated that it is only on the one side, and treatment options are currently being evaluated while we await more test results.

This is a clip from Gail’s journal on the day she was given the news :

Time for a journey. It’s not one I would like to take but I have no choice in the matter. It’s happening. Breast cancer. Ugh.

I will rant, rave, cry, stomp, curse, and it may get very ugly at times (not very lady-like sorry!).  Just saying if that happens, don’t become alarmed. I will make my way through this unforeseen crazy mess during COVID-19 and conquer to get to the other side- so I can see the happy, healthy, joyful and peaceful times of love and fulfillment ahead.  It will be a journey, I know;  long, far, deep, ugly, sad, mad, angry, joyful, happy, scared- all sorts of crazy emotions.  Here we go…

A journey to a new land with new thoughts, feelings, emotions, and phases.  A journey to get to my new "normal".  I look forward to the future of travel, hugs, peaceful fun times, activities, adventures, and thrilling memories after all of this.  I look forward to all of that and more.
