Fred Hunt Fred Hunt's Updates

First post: Sep 19, 2017 Latest post: Sep 27, 2017
This is Raquel, Fred's daughter-in-law. I have been asked to update everyone to keep the calls down to the hospital and nursing staff. They need their focus to be solely on Fred. Fred was brought into NGMC by ambulance on Wednesday 9/13/17. He was conscious at that time and in excruciating pain coming from his stomach. He quickly declined and was intubated and brought up to the Critical care unit where he has been in critical condition since. He is in Respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure and heart failure. He is on a Ventilator that is doing most of the breathing for him. He is getting round the clock dialysis, he has had 3 abdominal surgeries, one explarotary that turned into a partial colectomy (removed part of his colon), one wash-out and then they went back in and closed him up. That is where we are at now. They tried to wean him off of the ventilator but he could not breath enough on his own. They take him off sedation at times but still not responding to commands. He does respond to pain and other stimulants but he is not following commands (like squeeze my hand, wiggle your toes, etc). Now we are trying to wait to see what the Drs say about if he will or possibly will recover and what the long term effects would be, etc.
