It is with courage and great faith in God that Father Matthew Gilbert faces a diagnosis of Stage IV metastatic lung cancer. This diagnosis came as a complete shock when Father Matthew was hospitalized for a kidney stone and infection less than three weeks ago. The days ahead will have their challenges but also many opportunities to give thanks for each moment with family and friends. He is receiving excellent care from his medical team in Phoenix, and is surrounded by family to support him on this journey. Many people have asked, “what can we do to help?”, and the answer is simple – pray! The power of prayer truly demonstrates greatness of God. Whatever is His will for Father Matthew, we pray for courage, strength and peace.
