Hi all, My name is Danielle LaBonty, a friend of the Eisenberg's. Most of you I know but I just wanted to reach out and introduce myself to those of you I don't. Kristi and I will both be managing the updates on the site. She will be updating all the journal updates and I will be helping oversee the "tasks" portion ie, meals, dog walking, etc. Please let me know if you have any questions in regards to how you can help during this time.
If you would like to receive notifications when we update the site, you can sign up by clicking on the "notifications" link on the right side of this page. The Eisenberg's are beyond grateful for your prayers, texts, calls & notes of encouragement! Our prayer is that God will continue to give them great strength and peace through your prayers and they are clinging to Him and His promises during this roller coaster ride! For a more detailed breakdown of each day, please click on "journal" button on the site.
In the book of Acts, The Church was brand new. They had the opportunity to set a culture and decide what serving Christ really looked like on a day to day basis. The early Christians were so dependent on Jesus that they knew how to be interdependent on each other. The Eisenberg's have an amazing community (that's you all) of friends and family! To have a community where we can feel the freedom and liberty to ask for help without shame. Jesus was always motivated by mercy, not by any sanctimonious piety. We are better together than we are apart. Thank you for your willingness to share
Below is a quick entry from Kristi: Our family is preparing emotionally and physically for Jared to undergo his first of three complex surgeries. As most of you know he has suffered for the past year with tremendous complications from Ulcerative Colitis. No medications. No diets. No oils. No nada seems to be helping. His quality of life has changed and he's changed. It's time. It's time to find some relief and get Jared back to himself. He is scared. I am scared. He is not feeling well and just wants to start this process. The first surgery will be the most complex..... 4-5 hours of surgery, removing approx. 6 feet of colon and approx. 7 days in the hospital. He will then be home and honestly, we don't know what that will look like. Each case is so different and that is where much of our anticipation comes from...the unknown. His second surgery will likely be 4-6 weeks after the first and the third 4-6 weeks after that. The goal in all of this is to rid his body of the diseased colon, to get him off the obscene amount of steroids his body has been intaking and to find a new normal where he feels well. We haven't figured out logistics yet but it will definitely be a juggling act. I have to continue to work and will be in SD as much as possible as well as trying to keep the boys' routines the least amount affected.
***Jared's Surgery is scheduled for this Wednesday, March 8th at 8am. He will be checking in Tuesday after He and Kristi drop off the boys at school. Jared will be admitted to UC San Diego Medical Center-9300 Campus Point Drive, La Jolla, CA 92037. He will be in the hospital recovering for a minimum of 7 days! Kristi and the boys are planning on staying in San Diego Thursday night and potentially through the weekend. If anyone has points for Hotels in the San Diego area close to the medical center, that would be a tremendous blessing!!
Please feel free to share with others who may want to keep Jared in their thoughts!
