Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

As most of you know he was called on Tuesday to come to the hospital because they had a donor for him.  The lung transplant was done early Wednesday  afternoon. It took about 4 hours and went very well according to the surgeon.  They said that  his lung was like a chunk of concrete and the new one was nice and healthy.    He was taken off the ECMO machine today.  ( that's the heart / lung bypass machine that does all the work for him in circulating and oxygenating his blood for him during and after surgery). So since that is off he is officially doing it all on his own.  He is still on the ventilator  and remains sedated, but opens his eyes to voices and follows commands.  Hopefully they will  be able to take him off sedation tomorrow and extubate him.   Please continue with good thoughts and prayers.

We are setting this up so I hat everyone can keep updated on his progress daily.  It is my hope that between Brenda and the kids at least one of us can post something daily.  Please leave messages for him as well. He will love to hear from everyone.  He has a long road ahead of him, but he is a strong man, and all things are possible through prayer.
