Friday, April 13th proved to be an unlucky day. An accidental tumble down the stairs and an undiagnosed broken neck led us to the healing hands at The University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora Colorado.
The first few days in the hospital were spent in the ICU where he regained strength and grew healthier in an attempt at surgery to repair his broken neck. The day before surgery went well.  He was relocated out of ICU and spent the day working on crossword puzzles and enjoying the company of family.
Very early, on the day of surgery (April 25th) something went terribly wrong and he went into respiratory failure which led to cardiac arrest. After 30 minutes of CPR he was stabilized and returned to the ICU.  The days after have been filled with many ups and downs. The neck has begun to heal in the neck brace but it seems the trauma and events of the past few weeks have taken their toll.  He and his family are taking each day as it comes and hope that he and his body will slowly heal and grow strong enough to return home to Casper.
