Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Hello to all that want to follow Doug's progress.   I want to Thank all of you for your prayers, concern and kind words.  I am going to start to use Caring Bridge to centralize news of Doug's progress as it has become overwhelming for me to reply to each of you individually.   Please provide comments here on this Caring Bridge journal versus texting, emailing me or posting on Facebook.   I need to keep the input on those down to a minimum to better be able to communicate with the group of people that are assisting me right now.

I have also asked my friend Kris to help out and post some of the updates as I am spending most of my time at the hospital.  I am also staying at Kris & Paul's house in north Phoenix.  Doug is down in Phoenix at Honor Health Deer Valley in the neurological critical care unit.   Visiting is not recommended except for very close friends and very close relatives.   Please don't just stop by without coordinating with me first.  Too much activity around Doug is not good for his healing and just by being in the CCU (critical care unit) limits visiting.   We also have to be very careful he does not pick up an infection, so less people seeing him is better.

For those that do not know....Doug apparently fell off the roof Wednesday morning.  I was at a bible study class and got home around noon to find him collapsed out back.   Although we suspect it was not for a long time due to certain physical conditions.  As of yesterday (Saturday Jan 11) we have confirmed he was on the roof as we found his cell phone up there.   On Wednesday afternoon he was air lifted to the Trauma 1 level hospital in north Phoenix (Honor Health Deer Valley).  He had to undergo immediate brain surgery to remove a > 1cm brain clot and to remove part of his skull to allow for space as his brain would swell from the injury and the surgery.
