On June 21, 2017 Donna was experiencing some mobility issues with her left side.  Weakness in her left arm and not able to move her left leg to walk.  She saw a MD in Lee's Summit to get it checked out thinking it may have been a mini stroke or a stroke.   Over the course of the next 9 days she had blood work done, CT scan and a MRI.  Results of the scans showed a brain tumor in the right posterior frontal parietal lobe.   It was sitting right on top of the part of the brain that controls her left leg and arm.  She has not been experiencing any pain or any other symptoms except the lack of mobility and muscle strength.
On July 5 we spent the day at KU Medical for appointments with Dr Camarata (Neurosugeon), Dr Salacz (Oncologist) and Dr Nielsen (Brain Surgery Rehab).  At the end of this day the decision was made that the tumor appeared to be operable and Dr Camarata was going to remove as much of the tumor as he could and would send it to pathology.  We will at that point know more about the tumor when they return their findings.  At this point we do not know if it is cancerous, what type of tumor it is, it's Stage or what the long term prognosis or treatment may/could be.
Surgery is schedule for Monday July 10, 2017 in the afternoon.  We have been told that the next steps are the surgery, couple of days in the hospital for surgery recovery and then into Inpatient Rehab at KU for 3-4 weeks to get her moving again as much as they can.  And anybody that knows Donna knows she is always on the go and during this her biggest struggle is having to slow down!!

Her spirits are still high and she is still as active as she can be with the help of a little physical therapy she received in the first few days and a walker.
She has been getting to visit with family and close friends prior to her next step in this unplanned bump in the road.  She and the family appreciate all the people that are praying and thinking of her and have offered to help out.  And that is a lot of people because she has touched so many people in her life because that was her job that GOD gave her on this earth and she is SO good at it!!

Since the last information we got from her doctor was that she wouldn't be home for about 4 weeks the family asks that you give a rain check for any help, food/gifts or visits at her home until she is home or we get more information regarding visitation during her Rehab stay.    She will have access to this page so share away to keep her busy!!
We appreciate you visiting her site and we plan to keep everyone updated through this page as best that we can.
