On February 20, I went to the emergency room thinking that I was having a cardiac issue.  Little did I know that our whole world would be turned upside down in the next few days. In the process of doing a cardiac workup, a chest x-ray revealed a mass on my left lung. A biopsy confirmed that it was cancer. I am fortunate that it is Non-Small Cell Adenocarcinoma, which means that it is a  slower growing cancer.  Another reason that we are fortunate is that the cancer does not appear to have spread beyond my left lung.  As a family, we made the decision to go to Ohio States James Cancer Center for treatment.

The support we have received from our family and friends has been amazing and overwhelming. We appreciate all of the calls, texts, and cards checking on us and offering to help in any way. Your prayers and thoughts have meant a lot to us and we will continue to need much more. I am determined to fight this and be around to see what the future holds for Jackson and Grant, as well as keep Shawn on his toes for several more years.
