David Engel David Engel's Journey

First post: Feb 24, 2017
Dave Engel died Tuesday March 14.  Many of you know that Dave was in hospice with brain cancer and his time on earth was near the end.

The family is planning a service for Saturday April 8th from 2-6 pm at the Sugar Creek camp in the Manna Center.  https://wp.sugarcreekbiblecamp.org/.   There will be a service around 2:30 pm and dinner served about 4pm.  Rooted Spoon Culinary Catering will provide food.  Dave loved pie, if you want to bring one to share please do!

Dave was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma(brain tumors) last November, this is incurable. Dave is now a patient at the Bland-Bekkedal Hospice Center.  Marta said:  “Dave sleeps most of the time. Dave cannot walk or communicate but he often knows who is in the room”.

Dave was instrumental in starting Organic Valley, MOSES, MOSA, NICS and the Organic Farming Conference. He was also involved with the Pleasant Ridge Waldorf School, where all of his children attended, (Josh, Noah, Toby and Lilly) he also has three grandchildren.  His two oldest sons, Josh and Noah, run Driftless Organics, one of the larger fresh organic produce operations in Wisconsin. Both regionally and nationally Dave has made his mark in the organic community, as a dairy farmer, pioneer and a longtime supporter of organic agriculture.
