Back in July, my Mom had an MRI of her liver.  At that time, they diagnosed her with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, which is a liver disease.  They put her on medication to help with the disease and she was told to come back for a check up in 3 months.  She was not feeling well for a couple of months and in recent weeks she had lost her appetite and her stomach was very distended.  She was able to get into the Gastroenterologist  sooner than her 3 month check up, this past Monday, October 17th.  They stated that the issues my mom was having were not related to the liver disease and sent her directly to the ER at Fairview Ridges in Burnsville, MN.  Tests were performed and showed that she had multiple masses on her liver and she was admitted into the hospital. Over the past few days, she had multiple tests including  biopsies of the masses on her liver. We were informed this morning that the masses are small cell carcinoma, also known as cancer.  The cancer has metastasized which means it started someplace else. They are doing an MRI of her brain and a CT scan of her lungs today to try and find the source. This type of cancer is very aggressive and rapidly growing.  After the results of the scans today, we will have a plan in place, regarding Chemotherapy and treatment. With the aggressive nature of the cancer, we will need to start the treatments immediately.  She has had a lot of support from family and friends this week and we ask that you please pray for my mom and keep her in your thoughts, as she fights this fight.  I will post updates as we learn more information in the coming days.  Thank you all for your love and support.  -Tara & Family
