This site is to keep family and friends updated on Cat’s progress. Please feel free to share with others who ask about Cat’s progress. Cat was scheduled for her annual mammogram on1/15/18. The next day, Cat received a call that the 3D mammogram was ‘incomplete’ and more imaging was needed. Friday the 19th, she went back in for more imaging and then an ultrasound. A suspicious linear grouping of calcifications was detected on left side. A biopsy was scheduled for 2/1, two weeks out. 1/22 was a huge snowstorm that made travel difficult for everyone. Cat called to see if there were any cancellations and was able to get her biopsy done that afternoon. On the 24th, Cat received a call at school asking for her to meet with her doctor that afternoon, the last appointment of the day. She was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS), the 3D mammogram caught this early stage cancer. Cat is the first one in her family to have breast cancer.
