Back in the beginning of October I started experiencing severe stomach cramping. I proceeded to schedule an ultrasound and a CT scan, with no real findings from either of those. The pain continued to worsen and the next step was to schedule a colonoscopy. Unfortunately we had to wait three weeks for that appointment. I realized something was really not quite right when I started the prep for the colonoscopy, as I was not able to keep anything down. I ended up delaying my appointment to the next day (Wendnesday, November 22nd) in hopes of better luck with the prep. It ended up not working again but I decided to go in anyway to try to get some answers. By doing the colonoscopy they found a blockage in the colon which explains why the prep wasn't working, as a result they scheduled surgery for me for Friday morning (November 24th) to remove the blockage. During the course of surgery they removed 6-8 inches of the colon as well as a baseball sized tumor that was embedded in the colon that was determined to be cancerous, then they also removed lymph nodes to test for further spreading of the cancer.
