On May 31, 2018 Carson had a major seizure and was rushed to Sprrow Hospital. After a CT, MRI and EEG it was determined Carson had a brain tumor and we were sent to University of Michigan's Children's Hospital. On June 3rd we met with a pediatric neurosurgeon to find out Carson's diagnosis.  Dr. Maher had reviewed the MRI and told us Carson would need to have the tumor removed. He felt at this point the tumor was benign and everything was ok.
Carson had the tumor removed on July 13th during a 6 hour surgery.  At the post surgical consult Dr. Maher told us the tumor was most likely malignant. Pathology showed that the tumor was malignant and was classified as A.T.R.T.
Carson is now undergoing a pretty tough regimen of chemo and radiation to prevent the tumor from coming back. Carson loves sports and anything active. We can't wait for Carson to be cured and back on the soccer field and basketball court.  Carson is a fighter and his friends and family are all fighting with him. We are #carsonstrong
