Carolyn Pugh Carolyn and Mathilda

First post: May 27, 2016 Latest post: Jan 25, 2023
Welcome to my Caring Bridge site which was created three days after my trip to ER of May 24, 2016 for abdomen pain. My wonderful knitting community encouraged me to set up this site to be able to share easily what's happening and to be able to use the planner if and when help is needed.

An hour after admission a CAT scan was run. Another hour later the doctor came in to say, "We have the results which show a mass on your bowel." I say, "Me? I am healthy!" He says, "I know, but nevertheless you have a mass."

There was discussion that night that I might have to have emergency surgery. I made the necessary phone calls to my family, etc...two cousins that I was visiting in Fresno were with me in ER. My friend Bonnie from my knitting world came and was with us for 24 hours. Surgery was delayed until further surgeon consultation. After a two-night stay, I was released from Fresno ER. Fast forward to June 2......Bill and I met "my" surgeon in Oakland. The mass, aka Mathilda, is mesenteric lymphoma. I am now awaiting results of diagnostic surgery on June 9 to determine the type and the treatment plan.now fast forward to June 20....the surgeon has called with the results. Chemo treatment begins July 11.

We, my family and I, appreciate your support and words of love, friendship, hope and encouragement.
