Kana realized she was losing muscle function at 5:00 am Sunday December 1. She was fine at 11:00 pm the previous night. Over the next 24 hours Kana progressively lost function of her muscles beginning with her legs and progressing upward. After a 13-hour overnight stay in the ER, Kana was admitted to the ICU of Baton Rouge General Hospital where she spent the next 22 days. Kana was then transferred to Promise Hospital of Baton Rouge where she had a 43-day stay that prepared her for her extensive rehab. She entered Baton Rouge Rehab Hospital on Feb 5, 2020 and was discharged on March 19, 2020. Kana's diagnosis is Guillain-Barré syndrome.
