Having trouble swallowing, Butch sought medical advice only to discover a tumor in his esophagus. He immediately went to MD Anderson for consultation and treatment. His current status is that he has been diagnosed with Stage 4 gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. The cancer has metastasized into the liver and lymph nodes. Chemotherapy will be the primary treatment, however he has signed up for a clinical trial that will hopefully work in conjunction with the chemotherapy to slow down the cancer's advance. He will know if he is a trial candidate in about a week. We will keep you updated on his progress using this site through his Journal entries.
