Brylie Helling

Our beautiful little Brylie got sick Wednesday morning and was admitted to Avera Queen of Peace in Mitchell on Thursday night.  That night they did some blood work, an x-ray,  and a CT scan of her belly.  After the doctors reviewed that, we were sent to Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls for closer observation.  The doctors there sent off additional blood work and saw a splenic infarct on the initial CT.  We did a follow up CT this morning which confirmed the splenic infarct.  They also did an echocardiogram which looked good.  Tonight they are sending us to Mayo in Rochester to get more specialized care as this is a rare condition. We are going to see what options we have for the blood clot that caused the infarct.
