My uncle Bruce has always joked around with everyone. He has been working as a home healthcare nurse, taking care of others for quite a while. Uncle Bruce has been battling type 2 diabetes, and over the last year, he developed an infection deep in the leg bone. That resulted in a few hospitalizations, several rounds of IV anti-biotics, and a lot of intense bone pain.
In November 2017, uncle Bruce was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer (Adenocarcinoma). He has just started 6 weeks of both chemo and radiation. At the end of those treatments, he will have surgery.
His treatments are Monday - Friday, but are an hour away from where he lives. His surgery will be in Seattle. Between gas to/from, hotel rooms (discounted for cancer patients), prescription medications, out of pocket costs, and bills while he is unable to work, that would put a strain on most people’s pocketbook.
I’m asking friends, family, and even strangers to find it in their hearts to help my uncle Bruce during this difficult time.
