Bruce MacPherson had an accident Friday evening where he stumbled and fell, hitting the back of his head. It didn't seem too serious, as he visited with guests then went to see his niece. His headache had worsened by morning, and Nancy called 911 when he lost consciousness. He had surgery almost immediately, but he never regained consciousness. The brain bleed had caused the midline of his cortex to shift 16 mm, which caused severe damage to the brain stem, and a massive stroke.
After waiting, watching, and much prayer, the family has decided on the following:
Today as a family we have come to recognize that as much as we want Dad to be with us, the Lord is calling him home. Later today we will be moving him into comfort based care and hospital based hospice. We as a family so appreciate the love and care that so many of you have shown to all of us. Today Dad is surrounded by all of his direct family and a number of his grandchildren. We ask that for today we be allowed to say our goodbyes as family alone as we start this transition. After today I'm sure we can use your personal support. Mom and all of us would surely appreciate texts and emails of support but we won't have time to respond to many of them.
