Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
To all Bruce's family, friends, and Academy and Navy shipmates, thank you for checking in and following along with Bruce's fight against cancer.
In mid November this year, Bruce was in the woods hunting and filling the freezer with venison. In early December he was recommended for a cardiac procedure to install a stent ... to help him catch his breath. During the hospital stay the doctors noticed some irregularities in his blood tests and following x-rays and MRIs pointed to a growth in the upper abdomen.
The sobering diagnosis is an advanced cancerous growth on the liver.
After an unexpected lengthy hospital stay Bruce is home now under the attentive care of Barb and daughter Jenn. The plan is to start chemo treatment within the next couple weeks.
Certainly you will be looking for updates on Bruce's condition and this Caring Bridge will be updated as we plan more of his treatment and see his recovery progress.
Understand that just by accessing this site is an expression of caring and encouragement.
As Bruce would reiterate: "Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass... it's about learning how to dance in the rain." Let's dance with Bruce!
