Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place (since Rona isn’t on Facebook!). Rona will post regular updates on Brett’s progress here so please check back frequently for updates. And please feel free to leave well wishes and other messages that both Rona and Brett can see. Today is day 4 in the rehab facility and Brett is receiving 3 hours of therapy daily including physical, occupational and speech/cognitive. He’s making progress daily but is still bed bound and has not experienced a return of movement in his left arm or leg. We received word that the target release date will be December 28 however that gets re-evaluated weekly based on his progress and medical needs. Many people have asked about his prognosis. We haven’t really received a prognosis as of yet however all of the doctors and staff are extremely optimistic that he will make significant recovery...we just don’t yet know to what extent. It is going to be a long and challenging journey for him but he’s excited to tackle the challenge and is working hard in his therapy sessions to improve. He will require 24/7 care upon release for an unspecified period of time until he is able to be independent again. 


I can assure everyone that the rehab facility is fantastic. Everyone who works here, from his doctors and nurses to the therapists have been wonderful and believe it or not the food is actually pretty good, too! They have therapy dogs so he’s been able to have his spirits lifted by some furry love.
