Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Please continue to pray for Bob.
While in Charlotte, NC visiting his daughters, Bob went to the ER with Clare, on 2/9 due to pain and swelling in his legs. He was admitted to the hospital, because his creatinine was elevated, indicating decreased kidney function. While in the hospital an ultrasound, CT and MRI were performed which ultimately revealed that there is a 10 cm tumor on his right kidney. Bob was discharged 2/13 with plans to follow up with an Urology Oncologist on 2/15.

During the visit on 2/15 it was explained that Bob will have surgery on 2/21. His kidney will need to be removed, along with the tumor. He also has a blood clot in his vena cava which is a large vein that runs all the way to the heart. He will not need chemo or radiation as the type of tumor he has is not responsive to that type of treatment.  At this time it does not appear to have spread to other organs. Bob is undergoing a bone scan on 2/16.  Regional lymph nodes will be removed and biopsied to see if it has metastasized there. Results will be available 3-5 business days after surgery. After the appointment on 2/15 he was admitted to the hospital at Carolinas Medical Center Main Campus. He was admitted, to better manage his pain, monitor his symptoms and start him on blood thinners before surgery.

Surgery comes with risks so we ask that you lift Bob up in prayer. He is surrounded by his family who are smothering him with love . We appreciate all your love and support during this difficult time. We have faith that as always he will pull through stronger than ever, and be back playing tennis, and doing projects in no time. He welcomes texts and emails at this time. Thank you!

Love,
The Jorgensen family
