Welcome to my story. As most of you know, I have had COPD for a number of years and have had to use oxygen for the last few years. I have been able to do most of the things I wanted to do, but have had to lug around my portable oxygen. It hasn’t been ideal but I have been able to play with my Grandchildren and haven’t missed a UGA Bulldog football home game in many years.

I have been going to the Emory University lung transplant center for evaluations for the last six years but haven’t had to really consider a lung transplant because my lung condition and Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT) had leveled off and weren’t that bad. Well, things have changed. My PFT’s have been steadily decreasing in the last few months and breathing difficulty has increased. So, the Emory doctors have advised that it is time for a transplant.

Gayle and I have decided that CaringBridge is a good way to keep everyone informed about the ongoing transplantation process.

We will try to keep everyone informed, and please keep us in your prayers.
