On Dec.  6th Bill suffered a serious head trauma in an accident. Bill had been working in San Francisco for the week and had been out for the evening when the accident occurred. After a life-saving surgery in the early morning hours, Bill was brought to recovery in the ICU unit.  
Bill is currently in the ICU unit at Highland Hospital in Oakland CA .   Since coming to the ICU unit, Bill has been in an induced sedated state. There have been days of lighter sedation where he has shown signs of movement, response, and general eye activity.  As we are waiting for all signs of head injury ( swelling and fluids) to subside, the course of action is to let Bill continue to rest in a deeper sedated state, so that he can be prepared to be brought out of sedation and wake on his own. 
As we are learning day by day this is a very intricate process to have all areas stable and working together. There is a lot to balance with his body and brain and we are told that this up and down, balance of a "chess game"  is to be expected. There is a "manifest" that the doctors use and they have a plan. 
What we are being told is that Bill will wake up and recover. He will walk, talk and function. The extent of damage to his brain is unknown at this time.
